2024 Honorees

2023 TMSSAA 800M and 1600M State Champion
Brindley Duncan
Duncan, as an eighth-grader at East Middle School, captured two state titles, including breaking her own state record in the 800-meter run. As a seventh-grader in 2022, Duncan won the 800 and set the TMSAA mark at 2 minutes and 26.67 seconds. This year, she toppled that record on her way to winning the race in 2:24.31. “It feels amazing knowing that I put in a lot of time to work to get here,” Duncan said. “I had some nerves ahead of the race because I was really hoping to beat my record and keep my place as champion.” Before setting the new state mark in the 800 run, Duncan had already become a state champion after winning the 1,600 race earlier in the day. Duncan legged out the win with a time of 5:31.08, nearly a second ahead of Soddy Daisy’s Tatum Croft, who crossed the finish line at 5:31.96.
Duncan and Nichols later teamed with Maidson Crowder and Emily Bell to take third place in the 4×400 relay with a time of 4:27.9.

2023 TSSAA 800 Meter State Champion
Lily Storey
In a record time of 2:20.62, Lily became the 2023 TSSAA 800M State Champion, holding her title from 2022.
“It feels great to win back-to-back titles,” Storey said. “ I couldn’t have finished my high school career any better.”
Lily also teams up with Liliann Villimar, Sarah Eakin, and Eleanor Fults in the 4×400 relay. The Lady Wildcats earned state medals after they combined to take fifth place
after finishing at 4:17.15.
At age 5, Lily began playing soccer and describes the sport as monumental in her life. Later, she played for Tullahoma Middle School for three years and for the Action Elite Soccer Club for two years. At Tullahoma High School (THS), she played all four years and was the captain of
the Ladycats, where she was recognized as the All-District Player. Storey said her mother, Amy Storey, encourages her to always do her best, and through the years, a slew of coaches in Tullahoma have also invested in her. “One quote that Coach Clemens told me before every race is, "Go do what Lily does best!" What he meant by this is to just go out there — just run free — run for fun with no expectations on your shoulders.”
Lily has signed her commitment to compete in track and field at the collegiate level. She is now attending and running track at the University of Louisville.
